MAKE-UP

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Smoothing Foundation – I’m trying to decide which foundation to try so I thought I would share both. This is a best seller on Sephora’s website & I’ve heard a lot of celebrity makeup artists use this product. I think I’m leaning slightly more towards this one because it’s cheaper & has amazing reviews for oily skin.

Armani Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation – This is the other foundation I’m considering. It has a cult-like following & is known for a glowy natural finish. I’ve been wanting to try this foundation for awhile & I don’t know if it’s new or I just didn’t notice before but they have a smaller bottle to test that’s $45 instead of the almost $70!

Kosas Revealer Super Creamy + Brightening Concealer and Daytime Eye Cream – The title alone is enough to make me want to try it, but it seems like this concealer has taken the world by storm. I’ve been using shape tape for awhile but I’ve noticed recently with the weather changing it’s looking super dry. I’m so excited to try this out!

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder – this powder feels AMAZING, it has the most beautiful soft finish. This is a great powder for the holidays and all the parties coming up to make your makeup last.

Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer – This bronzer is my ride or die. The powder is soft & blends seamlessly!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade – the first product that made me love brows! This pomade will last for a long time because a little bit goes a long way! I love how well it shapes & how it stays in place alllll day. I use this product with the #12 brush.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – another one of my ride or dies! I cannot live without this to set my face. The finish just takes your makeup to the next level.

Charlotte Tilbury Transfer-Proof Setting Spray – Another must have for the holidays to make your makeup last! It’s the best selling setting spray on their website & I’ve been hunting for one!

SKINCARE

Pharmacy 2% BHA Pore Cleaning Toner – This toner is on my list because my skin is definitely on the oily side & has been absolutely freaking out with the season changes.

belief The True Cream Aqua Bomb – I love this moisturizer as a daily/morning moisturizer & The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb as a night cream! They both make your face feel amazing & supple & hydrated!

Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm – Someone shared this recently & I had to go in store to see if I liked the shade & scent – both are fab. They have a few scents/shades but the one I’m grabbing is brown sugar. The shade is very sheer, but such a vibe for fall.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask – My sister got me hooked on this ‘mask’. I put mask in parenthesis because to me it feels like a lux night cream. I don’t wipe this product off I leave it on overnight – you can wipe it off if you want but it absorbs into the skin & makes your face feel amazing & supple.

HAIR

Ouai Detox Shampoo – I’ve heard so many good things about this detox shampoo! & it smells incredible! A few things to note if you’re wanting to try it – it’s not a daily use type of shampoo or even every shower. I plan to use this every other week to get rid of oil buildup.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo – If you’re familiar with Amika it has their classic scent – if you’re not it’s one of my favorite scents out there. This dry shampoo works great for both blondes & brunettes! My favorite part is that it doesn’t leave product build up behind.

Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray – I’ve heard a ton of hype around this product it’s supposed to be a high shine, anti-frizz, anti-humidity product that lasts for 3-4 shampoos. I don’t see where it’s advertised as this but I’ve heard it almost makes your hair waterproof which would be great for all my fitness girls who’s hair curls up after a gym sesh.

dpHUE Gloss + Semi-permanent Hair Color & Deep Conditioner – I saw another girl share this & I knew I had to try it! It’s a shine treatment + color/toning. I’m really hoping this product will make it so I can go longer between dyes, but if you’re a blondie I would probably stick with the sheer option that is just a deep conditioner/gloss treatment.

Rare Beauty Blush 3-Piece Set – I’ve been wanting to try these liquid blushes for awhile & this set is perfect for holiday gift giving too! Comes with 3 colors, 2 smaller & 1 full size.

Minis Lip Sleeping Mask – This lip mask is a staple for me & this set is perfect for splitting up for gifts or keeping for yourself!

Gisou Honey Infused Hydration Hair Set – I’ve heard amazing things about this brand & specifically the hair oil & hair mask. This set is such a great affordable way to try a few of their products out! It also comes with a leave in conditioner & a hair perfume.

Dae Monsoon Moisture Hair Set – I’m a sucker for aesthetic packaging – but I’ve heard great things about this brand & their signature scent is amazing & they have a set for that here. I’ve wanted to try it for awhile & this set is perfect because it has a shampoo, conditioner & hair mask.

Hair Care Routine

Hi friends! Today I’m deep diving into my hair routine to tell you exactly how I’ve been taking care of it. I won’t lie, I’ve never been the one who wants to spend money on hair products. I don’t know what it is but skincare has always been my jam and I love seeing my results. However, I’ve really been wanting to take care of my hair better to help it grow fuller and longer so I’ve been experimenting for awhile and found the things I love and what works great for my hair. Hopefully this will help you along on your hair journey.

Shampoo & Conditioner! I genuinely used to believe shampoo was shampoo until I changed up what I was doing for my hair. Before after I’d get out of the shower and my hair would be impossible to brush out and felt so dry EVEN WHEN IT WAS WET. It just felt rough – and it definitely was just that ROUGH. I shamelessly tried to convince my boyfriend to help me out on multiple occasions. THEN I found this shampoo & conditioner that I L-O-V-E. Amika products #1 smell amazing, I even went back and bought the hair fragrance so I can wear it as perfume. The entire line smells the same way – which I also love. This shampoo leaves my hair feeling fuller, hydrated and VERY SILKY & SHINY. I shampoo my hair 1-2 ish times a week depending on what’s going on & how hard I workout. If my hair is feeling super greasy I double shampoo.

Hair Treatment ! I’ve been obsessed with this olaplex duo treatment, you’ll do this right before washing your hair. 1st you take Olaplex NO. 0, it’ll be a watery consistency and you’ll coat your entire head, leave this to soak for 10 minutes. NEXT you’ll add Olaplex NO. 3 this is more of a creamy shampoo consistency (without the bubbles). You’ll apply this on top of the 1st treatment (root to tip again) this will help to keep your hair wet. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes or you can even sleep overnight with it in. Together these products work better, however I have used NO. 3 alone and it does work by itself. This treatment will help repair breakage & strengthen your hair to prevent further damage. I promise you will notice a difference after 1 treatment how much better your hair feels. I try to do this treatment once a week-every other.

Leave in Conditioner – this It’s A 10 MIRACLE Leave-in-product is a multi-tasker which means I get to skip a few products and swap it for just this ONE. It really is a miracle. It works as a detangler, thermal protectant, prevents frizz & damage/split ends, hydrates, & even adds shine!

DRY SHAMPOO – aka my best friend! I’m sorry to say but the living proof dry shampoo really lives up to the hype. With my hair being black this is one of the only products I’ve found that doesn’t leave my hair horribly grey looking. That being said I do have a few tips. 1- Use dry shampoo before your hair is too oily to be saved. 2- I prefer to use it at night and sleep in it whenever possible. 3- Before using make sure you SHAKE THE BOTTLE, spray directly onto the roots and wait a few seconds for it to absorb the oil. If you see a white cast forming don’t worry! The product binds together with the oil in your hair and you can gently rub your hair back and forth and the product along with the hair oil will flake off. This leaves your hair clean without a buildup of product that makes you hair feel gross. It’s expensive but it’s worth it!

Hair Oil – this bonding oil from olaplex is amazing especially for color treated hair. I use hair oil only in the ends of my hair because I have super fine/thin hair but I want to keep it hydrated between washes. It helps with frizz, shine, damaged ends, & is even a thermal heat protectant (up to 450 degrees)!

Hair Spray! I really love the RedKen hairspray because it comes in different hold levels. Every persons hair is so particular for example my hair does not want to hold a curl EVER. They have from 12 (low hold) to 32 (very high hold). I use the 28 hair spray and brush through with a comb so it’s not sticky and still has a light feeling to it. IF YOU HAVE FLYAWAYS – take an old tooth brush and spray the bristles then brush it though the hair & like magic the flyaways will be gone.

Hair Fragrance – look I know it’s extra but it’s so worth it. I LOVE the amika smell, nothing compares to it & I want me entire body to smell like it. ITS MONEY!!

Wet Brush – I started using this a few years back and another brush will never touch my head. It detangles hair without hurting your head.

Microfiber Hair Towel – these hair turbans reduce breakage you would get from a regular towel, reduce frizz, & help dry your hair quick!

Skin Care Revolution

Y’all ain’t ready for today’s post, this company is revolutionizing skincare. When you compare the make-up industry to the skincare industry its amazing how different they are. The skincare world is much smaller. Cosmetics are on fire & everyone has this desire & drive to do something new and innovative, but I don’t see the same thing in the skincare industry. Until The Ordinary. High quality skincare products that don’t break the bank & actually work!

They have a regimen guide that makes selecting the right products for you so simple. I know I am one that gets overwhelmed by too much information & this guide is a great place to start. You select your issue and they have product suggestions for your problems i.e. skin pigmentation, aging, texture, hydration & the regime that I’m using skin congestion.

I will note a few things before your start using any new skincare products. First, do test patches in case you’re allergic to the product. When using harsh products such as acids or retinol’s really anything that makes you slough your dead skin faster than normal more than likely your skin will purge. It can take days to weeks for skin purging to clear up & your skin to get used to these new products. If your blemishes continue beyond 6 weeks it probably not skin purging and it’s just the product doesn’t work well with your skin. Sometimes this happens so don’t be discouraged, everyone’s skin is different and what might work for some won’t work for you.

Beauty Hacks You Can’t Live Without

1 // When applying your face lotion in the morning and at night don’t forget to bring it down your neck! Fighting age is a constant battle.

2 // Apply facial lotion while your skin is still wet to help it absorb into your skin better.

3 // Warm your lash curler or mascara tube with a hair dryer or under hot before applying to help give you some extra lift & prevent clumping.

4 // If you have lash extensions, wet your lash spoole and brush the top of your lashes to remove any eye shadow fallout.

5 // Clean your beauty sponges by putting them in a cup of water in the microwave for 60 seconds!

6 // You can put spoons in the freezer or use tea bags to help with eye puffiness.

7 // Use a toothbrush and hairspray to keep flyaway hairs in place.

8 // Use dry shampoo at night before your hair is dirty to prevent & absorb the oils before it’s too far gone.

9 // Use bio oil to help acne spots or scars heal quicker.

10 // Apply lotion to your hands, elbows, and feet before a spray tan so they don’t absorb more color than the rest of your body creating an uneven skin tone.

11 // You can make your eyes look bigger by lining the water line with a white liner.

12 // If you accidentally get mascara on your skin, don’t rub it right away & smudge it! Wait for it to dry & get a clean make-up brush to rub and it will flake off.

15 facts about me!

My stats tell me everyday that more and more people read my blog, but I feel like many of you probably don’t know much of anything about me so I’ve made this post with 10 facts about me so you can get to know me personally better & we can connect more!

1. I have been on fire before (like legitimately).

It was my 8th birthday, picture tiny little Kennah leaning over to blow out her birthday candles and my hair catches on fire. TERRIFYING.

2. I hattteee milk & I’m the pickiest eater.

3. In pre-school for Halloween I was scooby-doo.

4. I got lost at the state fair.

Story time again. If you’ve ever been to the state fair you know its pretty big especially being a little kid. I was mesmerized by a wood carving station and I turned around and no one was in sight. My mom swears she was right there across the street in another store, but no she wasn’t. I immediately went into panic mode and thought I would get left behind never to see my family again. I found my way back to the car and sat there crying while watching fireworks for an hour while my family was inside searching for me. I finally saw my dad running out to me crying his eyes out and he picked me up and my sassy self was mad at everyone for leaving me.

5. I have a BIG family. 11 siblings. 4 parents. 8 grandparents.

6. I actually enjoy working out. It might sound crazy to some of you, but it took me a long time to get here!

7. I’ve struggled with anxiety pretty much my whole life. You can read more about it here on the post I made specifically sharing my story.

8. I have the biggest sweet tooth. Controlling it is SO HARD.

9. I’m afraid of deep open water.

10. My sisters and I LOVE scary movies & anything to do with creepy stuff or serial killers.

11. I competed in Miss Teen Utah at 17 & placed in the top 10. This is probably something I am most proud of because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. No coach. No stylist. No make-up artist. No mommy & daddy to pay for everything. All while still going to school.

A lot of people have asked me when I’m doing Miss Utah and I always thought I would go back but I’m not sure if I will. I still think about it, but my goals have shifted a little bit.

12. I worked at Chick-Fil-A. First job and seriously the best job. It was so much fun even though I came home every night smelling like chicken.

13. I’ve had a blood transfusion.

14. My mind is 90% song lyrics. Ask me to rap for you next time we hangout.

15. I’m such a dreamer. I still believe there’s a chance my long lost grandma will show up and tell me I’m princess of Genovia.

Hopefully this helps you to get to know me a little bit better. I don’t want anything to come across over social media that I don’t have problems or struggles because I definitely do.

Why I switched to an All Natural Deodorant

Did you know after being diagnosed with breast cancer one of the first things they tell you is to stop using regular deodorant? Although the research connecting the two is inconclusive they are still asked to stop using deodorants with aluminum because of the way it can react with radiation. Many people also believe after shaving if you cut yourself it’s easier for your body to absorb toxic ingredients in your deodorants.

After finding this out switching to an all-natural deodorant was a no brainer because I was already leaning that way anyways. Not only do you feel better knowing exactly what’s in it, it seems to work a lot better for me. I’ve tried every kind and brand of deodorant including clinical strength options. Below are a few natural deodorants I’ve used/had recommended to me.

Schmidt’s Naturals – I’ve been using the cedar + juniper, but I think next time I will order the rose + vanilla or the ylang-ylang + calendula. If you have sensitive skin they also have a fragrance-free version!
Kopari Beauty Coconut Deodorant – I’ve heard amazing things about this aluminum-free deodorant and it has an auto-ship option which is great for me because I always forget until I’m completely out. I’m going to try the ship every 2 months option and see how I like it. Also love that its coconut, for some reason I’ve found coconut seems to work best for me at lasting all day, is that a real thing? or in my head? Lol.
Lavanila Deodorant – Aluminum-free and Kourtney Kardashian approved.
Malin+Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant – Recently tested out a few other products from them & I’m betting this one is just as good.
Native Deodorant – 4.69 out of 5 stars with 6,332 reviews. I’d say this one is definitely worth me testing. Also comes in yummy flavors. (Coconut & Vanilla, Rose & Lavender, and Gardenia & Orchid).

It seems quite silly that I’m so excited about deodorant, but seriously I can’t wait to try all of them and see how they compare. I already have 8 sticks in my bathroom drawer. I’ll keep you updated on which ones I’m loving.
