Beauty Tip : Plump Lip Hack

I unintentionally found this hack while using a lip exfoliator from E.L.F. I originally bought it to help my lipstick go on smoother. I use it 3-4 times a week and have noticed a HUGE difference in the size and plumpness of my lips. This exfoliator is THREE dollars. It keeps your lips looking and feeling so soft. It’s not too messy because it comes in lipstick form and really scrubs off the dead skin. I purchased mine from Target, but it is also available at Ulta and it has a 4.5 star rating! I use the clear one because it has big exfoliating sugar grains. For the price I think it’s good. It’s not going to plump your lips up like $800 lip injections would, but I love this and will continue to use it. The exfoliator is also cruelty-free which gives you even more reason to try it out!

Muah or Blah? The Beachwaver S1

I received the Beachwaver S1 as a gift and I have loved using it to get those perfect loose waves. Before the beach waver I tried every salt spray and wand technique, but nothing gave me what I was looking for! To be honest I was a bit afraid of the Beachwaver at first because I was scared I would somehow burn myself by pushing the arrow button that controls the rotation too far, but I actually get burned way less often using this than my others. It comes with a glove that I do not use, but if you’re accident prone it is a great idea. I have a few curling wands that I use daily and the Beachwaver is by far the quickest to get the job done. It takes me about 10-12 minutes to do my whole head and I have really long hair so that says a lot! It did have a learning curve with it because of the arrows and getting the direction right, but it didn’t take me long before I could turn the speed up! I section my hair off and curl in small sections clamping my hair 1-2 inches from the end to get the perfect beachy look. My hair doesn’t like to hold a curl so I have to hold it for about 8-10 seconds on a medium heat setting. After releasing the curl I lightly spray it with Control Addict 28 High-Hold Hairspray. Once the curls have cooled I brush through my hair and it gives you the most amazing surfer girl waves (if you don’t do this step you will end up looking like Shirley Temple.) This tool is a definite MUAH!

Here’s a link to a tutorial on the Beachwaver by the stylist who does the Victoria’s Secret Angels hair for the show! If you didn’t know the Beachwaver is what all the VS angels use backstage!

The Perfect Lipstick Application

Lipsticks in general are always going to be a trend, but they’re majorly big right now in liquid form. I know we all want the perfect application for lipstick, but a big step I think a lot of people miss is exfoliating your lips! Chapstick or lip balm isn’t enough to keep your lips silky smooth, they need to be exfoliated to remove dry skin and dead cells. Thus my first step to getting the perfect lipstick application every time.

  1. Start with exfoliating. There are a bunch of lip exfoliators out there, but I use a cheap e.l.f. one I got from Target  for only $3 and it does a good job (I’ve also heard great things about Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Lip Scrub.)
  2. Moisturize. Make sure you’re applying a chapstick regularly to keep your lips kissably soft. Before lipstick, I apply a small amount of Burt’s Bee’s Lip Balm to my lips to “prime” the area if you will. You only need enough to make your lips feel a bit tacky. (If you use a lot of a slippery chapstick the lipstick won’t go on well).
  3. Line your lips! Lipstick looks SO MUCH BETTER when you line your lips. It gives you a crisp fine line. I start by drawing an X on my cupids bow and work my way down and around. Then I fill in a little on the edges and right in the center to help blend it out so you don’t get a crazy line. (DISCLAIMER: If you want to over line your lips only do so towards the top and bottom not the corners of your mouth because you can see where your mouth ends and it will look weird if you draw too far beyond the edge).
  4. APPLY THE LIPSTICK! Start with the edges and move in to the center. Some people use a lip brush, but if it already comes with a wand I will just use that.

What’s in my Make-up Bag? : tarteist PRO

If you’ve read my blog before, you know I LOVE Tarte products, specifically their eyeshadows! When I heard about their tarteist PRO palette I had to have it. It’s not much more cost wise than their other tartelette palettes that only have 12 colors and this one has 20! Every single color is amazing. There are 16 ultra-pigmented matte colors and 4 iridescent luster shades that have a micro-shimmer (NOT a glitter that falls all over your face, which I LOVE). You really can create endless looks with this palette because it has a mix of mild and bold colors. They say it is perfect for all skill levels and they’re not kidding. Like all Tarte shadows you don’t need a primer because it is made with amazonian clay. They blend so seamlessly it takes very little man power to get them exactly how you want them. I’ve really been surprised at how much I use the MOD color. It was very out of my element (or so I thought) but it gives the best warm pop to my eyes. This palette is right on trend with all the colors and looks that are big right now! I also love the luster shades (on the right), they are the perfect shimmery accent. I love to use the color trendy on my bottom liner or glam on the inner corners of my eyes. (BONUS: this formula is Paraben and Phthalate free! Tarte also doesn’t test on animals!) As if you needed any more reason to love this brand.

Muah or Blah : Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask

I recently tried the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask (wow, that’s a mouthful) and I loved the results, plus it was fun to use! The mask has a jelly like consistency and spreads easily with the spatula that comes in the container. A little bit goes a long way, so be sure to spread it pretty thin. The mask will almost instantly start to bubble. I start with my forehead and work my way down to avoid getting it everywhere. You leave the mask on for about 3-5 minutes while it bubbles, then massage it into your skin followed by rinsing it off with warm water. Be sure not to leave it on longer or until the bubbles start popping because then it becomes much harder to get off your face (I made this mistake the first time!). The Bubble Clay Mask will leave your skin feeling tight, clean, and incredibly smooth! I noticed this mask even helped minimize my pores and it made my skin glow (no joke, like Kardashian glow). I would say this product is a muah!
