Lipsticks in general are always going to be a trend, but they’re majorly big right now in liquid form. I know we all want the perfect application for lipstick, but a big step I think a lot of people miss is exfoliating your lips! Chapstick or lip balm isn’t enough to keep your lips silky smooth, they need to be exfoliated to remove dry skin and dead cells. Thus my first step to getting the perfect lipstick application every time.
- Start with exfoliating. There are a bunch of lip exfoliators out there, but I use a cheap e.l.f. one I got from Target for only $3 and it does a good job (I’ve also heard great things about Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Lip Scrub.)
- Moisturize. Make sure you’re applying a chapstick regularly to keep your lips kissably soft. Before lipstick, I apply a small amount of Burt’s Bee’s Lip Balm to my lips to “prime” the area if you will. You only need enough to make your lips feel a bit tacky. (If you use a lot of a slippery chapstick the lipstick won’t go on well).
- Line your lips! Lipstick looks SO MUCH BETTER when you line your lips. It gives you a crisp fine line. I start by drawing an X on my cupids bow and work my way down and around. Then I fill in a little on the edges and right in the center to help blend it out so you don’t get a crazy line. (DISCLAIMER: If you want to over line your lips only do so towards the top and bottom not the corners of your mouth because you can see where your mouth ends and it will look weird if you draw too far beyond the edge).
- APPLY THE LIPSTICK! Start with the edges and move in to the center. Some people use a lip brush, but if it already comes with a wand I will just use that.
TA-DAA! Now you know how to perfectly apply your lipstick every single time!!
I recently tried the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask (wow, that’s a mouthful) and I loved the results, plus it was fun to use! The mask has a jelly like consistency and spreads easily with the spatula that comes in the container. A little bit goes a long way, so be sure to spread it pretty thin. The mask will almost instantly start to bubble. I start with my forehead and work my way down to avoid getting it everywhere. You leave the mask on for about 3-5 minutes while it bubbles, then massage it into your skin followed by rinsing it off with warm water. Be sure not to leave it on longer or until the bubbles start popping because then it becomes much harder to get off your face (I made this mistake the first time!). The Bubble Clay Mask will leave your skin feeling tight, clean, and incredibly smooth! I noticed this mask even helped minimize my pores and it made my skin glow (no joke, like Kardashian glow). I would say this product is a muah!

Dermaplaning is something I’ve been doing to my skin for about a year now (I actually didn’t know it had this name until I’ve seen it all over recently). Basically it’s exfoliating your face using a razor. Typically this is known to be done by a professional with a 10-guage scalpel, but I’ve been using this at home version that works perfect for a fraction of what it would cost to have it done. I know this sounds scary, but I promise it’s not. I use the tinkle face razors from Amazon (link below). It’s actually pretty hard to cut yourself with these razors because you shave it on an angle. I start by washing everything off my face and applying a good layer of face-lotion or of a suitable face oil (I’m sure coconut oil would work as well). I start with my cheeks shaving downward at an 45 degree angle. I shave my entire face removing all the dead skin cells and peach fuzz from my face. It makes my face not only feel softer and look better on it’s own, but it makes my make-up glide on smoother so your make up doesn’t look cakey. Me and my sister jokingly call it shaving your kitty because you get these clumps of white hair while shaving. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t make your hair grow back darker or thicker or quicker. Afterward your skin feel so soft it almost tingles (like after you shave your legs). If you’re still scared I’ve linked in a video from how I learned how to do this face shaving! Order your razors and get to shaving those kitties!
