Self Care

Hi babes! I want to have an honest conversation about this buzzword, self-care. I feel like I see it everywhere nowadays treat yourself, buy the shoes, take a bath, lay in bed and watch movies all day. Sometimes self-care isn’t at all what we think it is. Self-care is sometimes a way to hide from the inside work we need to do. Sometimes self care is making yourself workout when you don’t want to, going to bed early, eating healthy or drinking water to give yourself energy, organizing and cleaning your home so you feel inspired instead of scattered and even going to therapy to heal.

We spend hours a day scrolling on instagram to numb what we’re feeling. What if self-care was journaling? What if self-care was learning emotional intelligence & checking-in to see how you feel? Testing our limits & getting outside of our comfort zone? What if self-care was to stop running from our problems and face them so we can have meaningful peace in our lives more. The worlds standard for self-help might make you feel good while you’re eating the cake, but leave you with regrets later. Some of these forms of self-help are fleeting, temporary & maybe some of that is okay once in awhile. Is it the most helpful thing we can do though? It seems very surface level to me of how we can actually help ourselves. All of that to say, maybe we’ve been approaching self-care wrong & it’s not always meant to be easy or feel comfortable in the moment.
